Monstay Farm offers access to:
Cycle tracks of the Mortimer Forest for mountain bikes with a
mountain bike downhill course (800m from farm) - Uplift available on certain weekends. Contact Pearce Cycles of Ludlow (01584 879288)
Access to miles of footpaths and bridleways without the need to go onto roads. The Mortimer Trail passes within 500 m of the farm and the Herefordshire Trail and Shropshire Way are also nearby (For Long Distance Paths see www.ldwa.org.uk/ldp).
The Mortimer Forest Geology Trail runs between the car park opposite the farm and Ludlow (www.kgg.org.uk/mortimer.html) - This area South Shropshire area is one of the most interesting geological areas in England.
There is boating on the River Teme in the summer (200 metres upstream from Dinham Bridge in Ludlow).
The farm is being managed sensitively to encourage a rich diversity of wildlife. Species seen recently include Roe Deer, Fallow Deer, Red Kites, Dormice, Tawny Owls, Palmate Newts, Slow Worms, Orchids, Fritillary Butterflies, several species of bat and many others. |
